Due to the recent Governor’s Executive Order 2020-160, the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center will be closed to the public effective Monday, August 3, 2020.
“You cannot gather in a building of ten or more people,” Escanaba Recreation Director Kim Peterson said. “Most of the activities we have are for ten or more people. In order not to police everybody, and kick people out, we are just better off closing our doors. Trying to follow the CDC guidelines for cleaning is also difficult. As soon as one group leaves,m were sanitizing everything from the showers, rest rooms, benches, doors. When she issued the new order banning ten or more in a building, we will shut down Monday, August 3rd, and hopefully we can open back up soon.”
Peterson says the civic center provides a lot of services for kids during the school year, and she’s hoping to be able to re-open in mid-September for the after-school programs.
If you need to enter the facility for a business transaction, an appointment can be made.
