Michigan Adds 715 New Cases; Increases In Gogebic, Menominee Counties

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 715 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, and five new deaths.

They also went through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results, and added 14 more deaths to the statewide grand total. Those people could have died days or weeks ago, according to the MDHHS.

Michigan now has 80,887 positive test results since the crisis began more than four months ago, and 6,191 total deaths.

Two counties had big increases on Thursday: Gogebic County saw a jump of eleven cases, and there were nine new cases in Menominee County. Single cases were added in Alger, Dickinson, Chippewa, Iron, and Ontonagon Counties.

No new deaths were reported in the U.P. on Thursday.

The U.P. has seen 476 total confirmed cases since early March.

The state also reports 58 “probable” cases for the Upper Peninsula.
