The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 735 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, and three new deaths.
State officials also went back through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added four new deaths to the statewide total using that method.
Michigan now has 82,356 positive test results since the crisis began more than four months ago, and 6,206 total deaths.
The MDHHS on Saturaday also provided an update on the number of people who have recovered after testing positive or being diagnosed with COVID-19. State officials now say that 60,022 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset.
The Upper Peninsula had 23 new cases on Saturday, according to the MDHHS. Marquette County added six cases, while Menominee and Gogebic Counties each added five new positive test results. There were three new cases reported in Delta County, Chippewa County added two, and there were single cases added in Dickinson and Schoolcraft Counties.
There were no new deaths reported in the Upper Peninsula on Saturday, and there’s been one total death reported in the months of June and July in the region.
The U.P. has seen 519 total confirmed cases since early March.
The state also reports 60 “probable” cases for the Upper Peninsula.
As of Saturday, Michigan has completed 2,117,523 tests. Of those, 1,900,115 tests are diagnostic tests, and 216,608 tests were for antibodies.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, a total of 35,790 diagnostic tests have been completed as of Friday. The percent positive rate for the U.P. is less than one percent.
