The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 549 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, and two new deaths.
The state also announced that it was removing three deaths from the statewide totals because they had been entered in error. That means a net decrease of one death compared to Saturday’s running total.
Michigan now has 87,403 positive test results since the crisis began more than four months ago, and 6,249 total deaths.
The Upper Peninsula saw 16 new positive test results on Sunday. Six of those new cases were reported in Delta County and four new cases were reported in Marquette County. There were two new cases in both Dickinson and Menominee Counties, and single cases in Ontonagon and Chippewa Counties.
The MDHHS on Saturday provided an update on the number of people who have recovered after testing positive or being diagnosed with COVID-19. State officials now say that 63,636 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset. That’s an additional 3.614 recoveries in the past week.
No new deaths were reported in the Upper Peninsula on Sunday. The last death reported in the U.P. was on June 26 in Iron County. Before that, the most recent death was on May 24, in Marquette County.
Statewide as of Sunday, there have been 9,323 “probable” cases, and 270 deaths are listed as probable. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.
The state reports 86 “probable” cases for the Upper Peninsula, as of Sunday.
As of Sunday, Michigan has completed 2,355,867 tests. Of those, 2,127,348 tests are diagnostic tests, and 228,519 tests were for antibodies.
