Michigan Adds 868 New Positive Tests; 12 In Upper Peninsula

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 868 new coronavirus cases on Monday, and four new deaths.

Michigan now has 97,660 positive test results since the crisis began five months ago, and 6,397 total deaths.

The Upper Peninsula added 12 new cases on Monday. Five of them were in Menominee County. Two each were reported in Marquette and Mackinac Counties, and single cases were added in Houghton, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties.

The U.P. now has seen 908 total cases since the crisis began five months ago, and 18 deaths. No new deaths were reported in the U.P. on Monday.

The last death reported in the U.P. was on June 26 in Iron County. Before that, the most recent death was on May 24, in Marquette County.

Statewide as of Monday, there have been 10,026 “probable” cases, and 266 deaths are listed as probable. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.

The Upper Peninsula has had 137 “probable” cases reported as of Monday.

As of Monday, Michigan has completed 2,833,736 tests. Of those, 2,585,426 tests are diagnostic tests, and 248,310 tests were for antibodies.

The state also reported nearly 5,000 more recoveries on Saturday. The MDHHS says that 72,580 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset. That’s an additional 4,802 recoveries in the past week. This is updated every Saturday.
