The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 692 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, and 13 new deaths.
The deaths came from a review of death certificates that were matched to previous positive test results.
The state now has had 111,524 total positive tests and 6,591 COVID-related deaths since the crisis began six months ago.
The MDHHS updated the total number of people who have recovered from COVID-19. That is defined by being alive at least 30 days from diagnosis or onset of the illness. As of Saturday, 85,513 people were listed as recovered, an increase of nearly 5,000 in the past week.
Michigan also has 11,534 “probable” cases and 320 “probable deaths”. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.
The U.P. has 1,250 total positive test results since the crisis began six months ago. There have been 20 deaths reported.
The U.P. added 14 new cases on Saturday, with the most being six each in Delta and Houghton Counties. No new deaths were reported in the U.P.
Two cases were removed from Dickinson County’s total.
As of Thursday, the Upper Peninsula had eleven COVID patients in the ten hospitals in the region. Seven of those are in the Aspirus system in the western U.P., with two at U.P. Health System and one each at Schoolcraft Memorial and at the Soo’s War Memorial Hospital.
The U.P. had two patients in the Intensive Care Unit: one each in Escanaba and Sault Ste. Marie. This was not updated on Friday or Saturday.
The Upper Peninsula had 207 probable cases as of Saturday.
As of Saturday, Michigan had done 3,412,859 total tests, with 3,144,491 of them diagnostic tests and 268,368 anitbody tests.
