The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 483 new coronavirus cases on Saturday and three new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 12 more deaths to the state total.
The state updated the number of people who have recovered, adding more than 5,000 recoveries since the previous report. MDHHS now says that 90, 216 people have recovered. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis.
There are no reports issued on Sundays.
Michigan now has 115,870 positive test results since the crisis began back in March, and 6,653 deaths.
The state also has 12,217 “probable cases” and 316 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 36 new positive test results on Saturday, but Luce County’s numbers were reduced by eight cases.
Houghton County added 12 new cases, while Marquette and Menominee Counties both added eight new positive test results. Delta County added four new cases. Iron and Dickinson Counties both added two cases.
Through Saturday, the U.P. had 1,483 cases since the first report in March, and 23 COVID deaths. The U.P. also had 252 probable cases and no probable deaths.
As for hospitalizations, the U.P.’s ten hospitals had a combined three COVID patients plus two in an intensive care unit. This is as of Thursday. The MDHHS did not update this data on Friday or Saturday.
