The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday reported 1,237 new positive test results and 20 new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added ten more deaths to the total.
Michigan now has 137,702 positive test results since the crisis began back in March, and 6,928 deaths.
The Upper Peninsula added 78 new cases on Tuesday, with 24 of them in Marquette County, 14 in Dickinson County, and 11 in Menominee County. A new death was reported in Iron County.
The U.P. now has 3,546 total cases since the crisis began in March. There have been 58 deaths reported in the U.P. during the pandemic.
The state also has 15,160 “probable cases” and 327 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The U.P. has had 564 probable cases and one probable death.
The U.P.’s ten hospitals, as of Monday, were caring for a combined 33 COVID patients, with 15 of them at U.P. Health System hospitals. There were 12 other patients in U.P. intensive care units, for a total of 45.

The state says that 104, 271 people have recovered from the virus. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis. That is an increase of nearly 5,000 recoveries in the past week.
