Former Radio Results Network General Manager and legendary U.P. voice Rick Duerson passed away on December 27th in Escanaba. Rick was the General manager of RRN which included WGLQ, WCHT, WCMM, WTIQ and WGKL from, 1982 until his retirement in 2014
Rick was the original morning host on WGLQ for the 1st 10 years and he also hosted the Shopping Show and Auctions for many years. He also won many awards of hosting “This Week In The Woods”, a locally produced program on outdoor issues.
Duerson began his career in Clare, then worked at WVOY in Charlevoix. He was also an account manager at WXYZ in Detroit before moving his family to the Escanaba/ Gladstone area.
Rick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved nature and lived in a log cabin in the woods. He and his son enjoyed hunting and together started the Rapid River Knife Works company.
Current General Manager Jesse Huff said. “Rick brought in a lot of great people over the years that helped make RRN the company it is today. His vision and leadership were integral in making us a success. He will be greatly missed.”
Rick Duerson is survived by his son and daughter and 3 grandchildren.

As anyone who knew, they knew he was passionate about the local YMCA. Rick was a founding member of the Delta County YMCA and served on the board for more than 20 years.
