The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is sharing an update on the ongoing PFAS investigation in Marinette, Peshtigo, and nearby communities. In January, the DNR approved new monitoring plans from JCI/Tyco for 24 private wells in the area that have not yet been replaced with deep wells.
The company is now required to notify the affected households. Back in December, the DNR reviewed documentation showing 134 replacement deep wells have been installed in the PWSA. Initial test results from more than 100 of those properties show the treated water is safe to drink — if treatment systems are properly maintained. Additional deep wells are still planned.
And in October, the DNR responded to progress reports involving surface water treatment systems known as Ditch A and Ditch B.
