A 24-year-old Marinette woman who went missing last week has been found dead.
At a news conference on Thursday, Marinette Police Department Public Information Officer Brad Bayerl had sad news on the fate of Gabriella Cartagena. Her expressed the department’s condolences to Cartagena’s friends, family, and to the M&M community. Bayerly also praised the cross-border cooperation between Menominee County and Marinette County law enofrcement.
Gabriella’s body was found on Tuesday in a wooded area near Birch Creek, north on Menominee. Marinette Police Chief Jon LaCombe says security cameras tracked the suspect and were a key to locating the remains. They also used cell phone GPS data to find her, and to track the suspect.
Police think the suspect that her boyfriend, Robert Chilcote, killed Cartagena in Marinette’s Red Arrow Park. He’s awaiting extradition from Minnesota, where he’s being held on charges of trying to flee police following a traffic stop
