Menominee County Road Commission crews are continuing to work hard to get roads opened. We understand there are still some areas that have not yet been addressed, and we are working to reach them as quickly as possible. Additional equipment has been brought in to assist operators with snow removal so our plow trucks can access and open these roads.
Our goal is to provide all permanent residents with at least one lane of access by Friday afternoon.
We understand that there are true emergencies that require immediate attention from the Road Commission. As stated in prior posts, if you are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911 immediately.
We have established procedures with Central Dispatch that allow them to request direct assistance from the Road Commission when necessary.
We have received many requests citing urgent needs, including medical concerns, important doctor’s appointments, low medical supplies or medications, propane shortages, furnace failures, and similar situations.
While we do not want to discount the seriousness of these concerns, reports made directly to the Road Commission do not warrant priority service unless they are verified as a true emergency through 911. Once an emergency is confirmed, 911 will assess appropriate response or evacuation protocols and request Road Commission assistance if needed.
At this time, the Road Commission must stay the course and continue clearing roads systematically, one at a time, as quickly and efficiently as possible. Responding to non-emergency requests diverts resources and slows overall progress.
