CLICK TO HEAR JACK HALL’S INTERVIEW WITH KENT DUBORD, EPWD
More progress on Wednesday in the battle to remove all of that snow that fell on Escanaba during this week’s vlizzard.
Public Works Director Kent Dubord told RRN News Wddnesday night that they were able to open up all of the alleys in the city. He says there are several alleys which will have to be cleared out Thursday morning because cars were stuck in the alleys when crews arrived.
Dubord says they’re still not good enough to get garbage trucks down, and they’ll work on that over the next few days.
And what about the massive snowbanks at every intersection? Dubord it will take several weeks to knock down all of those snowbanks, and they’re hoping that warmer temperatures will help to melt some of this snow. In the meantime, he suggests you plan your route a little differently.
Because it’s hard to see around the mountians of snow, Dubord says you should drive as far as you can east-to-west before you have to make a turn, especially on Ludington Street.
Dubord says his crews have worked long hours every day for the past week, dealing with equipment breakdowns and fatigue. But he says they’ll be out there again early Thursday morning for another long shift of snow removal.
