Some 33 people were hurt Sunday afternoon when a tour bus from Chicago crashed in Green Bay on its way to the Upper Peninsula.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says that emergency crews responded at about 2:30 p.m. after the bus exited I-43 at Webster Avenue and went over an embankment, nearly hitting a building.
There were 54 passengers on the bus from Illinois, on their way to the Island Resort & Casino here in the Upper Peninsula.
The bus operated by Lucky Charters was stopping in Green Bay for a food break.The Green Bay Police Department says that many of the passengers were elderly and suffered minor injuries, but two individuals were in critical condition.
On Monday, it was confirmed that the bus driver, 37-year-old Ghebry Figueroa, was arrested and booked in the Brown County Jail on a charge of Operating While Revoked-Causing Great Bodily Harm. WLUK-TV in Green Bay quoted the Illinois Secretary of State as saying that Figueroa has not had a valid drivers license since 2017.
