The Schoolcraft County Board of Commissioners has declared a state of emergency following the severe blizzard from March 13th to 17th, 2026.
This declaration was sent to Governor Whitmer through the Michigan State Police’s Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division.
Efforts are underway to secure assistance and resources to mitigate the storm’s impact, particularly focusing on Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital
As a Critical Access Hospital, Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital is required by law to remain open with qualified medical professionals available on-site or on-call and maintain Emergency Services 24/7 -regardless of conditions (42 CFR §485.618).
