The Menominee County Road Commission gave an update Sunday night on the flooding that has caused damage to roads across the county. Rapid snowmelt and as much of two inches of rain caused problems on Sunday, and more rain is in the forecast for this week.
The US-2/41 intersection was flooded Sunday afternoon in Powers, but the waters have since receeded.
The road commission, though, is still urging all motorists to use extra caution when traveling on County roads.
“Minor to moderate flooding is expected over the next 7 days, with rivers projected to crest mid-week. Several roadways are already impacted, with some experiencing significant washouts and closures.”
Roads currently (as of 8 pm CT Sunday) CLOSED to through traffic:
• CR380 between US-41 and Old US-41
• Old US-41 (½ mile north and ½ mile south of CR380)
• Quarry Road between Spur Road and Trail Crossing
• Gustafson Road (¼ mile north of CR577)
• Townline Road (Kell Road) – 1 mile north of Spring Green Road
• Township Line Road (Wilson) – 1.4 miles north of Old US2
Please do not drive through flooded areas—water depth and road conditions can change quickly and may be unsafe.
“We will continue to monitor conditions as the work week progresses. Thank you for your patience as we work to keep our roads safe.”
