Menominee County has declared a local state of emergency because of severe flooding due to heavy rain and melting snow. The county board of commissioners says there has been widespread damage done to many homes and businesses.
Many roads and stream crossings in the county, and the National Weather Service says that the Menominee River to continue to rise to a crest of 20 feet. The last time that happened was in 1960.
The US-2/41 intersection in Powers has been flooded and closed several times in the past week. Frenchtown Rd south of county road 358 is closed at the bridge until further notice, Water is up to the bridge and starting to go over the road. And the bridge that crosses over Wilson Creek on County Road 563 has been completely washed out.
Menominee County has officially asked Governor Gretchen Whitmer to issue a state emergency declaration.
