There’s been a fatal traffic crash in Iron County.
The sheriff’s department says that the accident happened on US-141 at 3:35 Thursday morning near Offerman Road in Hematitie Township.
Deputies say that a 45-year-old woman from the Dickinson County town of Vulcan was pronounced dead at the scene. She was driving a SUV that crashed into a truck. Her passenger, a 22-year-old from Vulcan, was taken to Aspirus Hospital in Iron River for treatment. The condition of that person has not been updated as of this writing.
The Iron County Sheriff says the SUV was going south on US-141 when it crossed the center line and crashed into a box truck. The driver of that truck, a 55-year-old man from Felch, was not hurt. Deputies do not believe that alcohol was involved in this accident, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The names of those involved have not yet been made public.
