Escanaba’s Holy Name High School recently held its Awards & Scholarship Night at St. Anne Parish Hall (which is connected to Holy Name High School).
Scholarships totalling $34,750 were awarded to the seven graduates.
The seven graduates in the class of 2026 are: Peter Chouinard, Eadi Diebolt, Piper Diebolt, Taylor Hastings, Ed McBroom, Michael Rexford, and Evelyn Trottier.
Among the evening’s special presentations was a sportsmanship and athletic achievement award presented by award-winning sports writer, and Holy Name Alum, Bob McGinn. This year’s recipient was senior Michael Rexford. Rexford has signed with St. Norbert College and will continue his track and field career there this fall.
The prestigious John Philip Sousa Award for outstanding achievement in band was presented to Ed McBroom by Band Director Damian Ellis.
The equally distinguished National School Choral Award was presented to Evelyn Trottier by Choir Director Allison Ellis.
Additional honors presented during the evening included academic achievement awards and multiple college scholarships recognizing excellence in leadership, service, academics and extracurricular involvement for students in 9th through 12th grade.
HNHS Headmaster Erin Viau said, “We would like to thank the following donors for their generous gifts to our students: Kenneth and Patricia Gartland; Harry and Sandy Krebs; Bart & Laurie Stupak—in honor of their late son, Bart Stupak, Jr.; Robert & Sherri Bink; Anna Nelsen; Donna Richer—in memory of her late husband Dale Richer; Abrahamson family in memory of Gary Abrahamson Jr.; Bob and Pat McGinn; and an anonymous donor. We are so grateful!”
Jane Arts, Holy Name’s Director of Alumni and Advancement, said “While Holy Name is proudly a Catholic school, the generosity of our benefactors reaches students from many different backgrounds – and different faith traditions, a reflection of the kindness and community spirit that defines our school family.” She continued, “Many schools hope for this kind of lasting connection and support, and we do not take it for granted.”
