The Michigan State Police is providing an update regarding the June 2, 2026, incident involving a shooting in the City of Marquette and a subsequent pursuit of the suspect by MSP.
The suspect, 31-year-old Trevor Caponcello Restivo of Marquette, was arraigned Friday, June 5, 2026, in the 96th District Court in Marquette on charges related to both his fleeing and eluding from the MSP, and the shooting in the City of Marquette that occurred prior to the MSP pursuit.
The charges he was arraigned on were:
One count of Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer Second Degree
Two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder
One count of Weapons-Firearms: Discharge in or at a Building Causing Serious Impairment
One count of Weapons-Firearms: Discharge in or at a Building Causing Injury
Four counts of Felony Firearm
One count of Interfering with Electronic Communications Causing Injury or Death
The total bond for all combined charges was set at $1,350,000 cash/surety. Restivo is scheduled to appear in court on June 11, 2026, for a probable cause conference and on June 18, 2026, for a preliminary examination.
Immediately following his arrest by MSP on June 2, 2026, Restivo was transported to UPHS-Marquette for treatment. He remained hospitalized and in custody of the Marquette Police Department until his discharge on June 4, 2026. Following his release from the hospital, he was lodged at the Marquette County Jail. The defendant is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
