Marinette County leaders are beginning the search for a new county administrator while also considering temporary leadership to keep county operations running smoothly.
During Thursday’s Executive Committee meeting, members reviewed information from a professional executive search firm recommended by the Wisconsin Counties Association. County Board Chair John Guarisco says the committee is taking its time to evaluate the firm’s proposal before making any decisions.
County officials also acknowledged the hiring process will likely take longer than the county’s 60-day window, prompting discussion about appointing an interim administrator.
While no action was taken, Guarisco says he and Vice Chair Connie Seafeld have been authorized to begin identifying potential interim candidates.
The Executive Committee also wants proposals from additional executive search firms before selecting one to oversee the recruitment process, saying it wants to ensure the county completes its due diligence.
Guarisco says while county leaders understand the importance of moving quickly, they also don’t want to rush such an important decision.
Committee members are expected to review the recruitment proposals over the coming week before discussing their next steps at the Executive Committee’s next meeting.
