For the first time, the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is rolling out an enrollment event just for women who served. Led entirely by the VA’s all-female outreach and enrollment team, this is a unique opportunity for women Veterans in the Iron Mountain and Escanaba areas to get the care and benefits they deserve—often for the very first time.
If you’re a woman who served in the military, this event is for you. Thanks to the PACT Act, signed into law in 2022, there are major changes to who can qualify for VA health care. Many women who were previously told they weren’t eligible are now finding out they can finally access VA benefits—including free hearing aids, eyeglasses, and lower-cost health care. Medication co-pays are affordable, starting at $8 and capped at $33, and many Veterans pay nothing at all.
The event is open to all female Veterans and their families. On-site childcare will be available, so you can focus on getting enrolled and learning about all your options. If you’re not sure about your eligibility, this is your chance to sit down with someone who can walk you through it, answer your questions, and get you signed up on the spot.
Not enrolled yet? Not registered? Even if you’ve been denied before, come see what’s new. Just bring your DD214, last year’s income, marriage date (if applicable), and the birthdates and Social Security numbers for any dependents.
Don’t miss out—this could be your moment to finally get the VA care you’ve earned.
