Voters in Delta County have approved a millage request to expand bus services in the community. The proposal was for 0-point-689 mills to offer bus services in every corner of the county for the next eight years. Tuesday’s vote passed with roughly 65-percent yes to 35-percent no. The numbers were 6,449 yes to 3,445 no.
Several townships currently do not have bus service, but DATA will now provide service countywide, plus, offer a new service on Friday and Saturday nights until 2 a.m.
Tuesday’s vote replaces the millage that was levied in Escanaba and Gladstone, and in some townships. Those communities will see a slight tax increase. In places where service has not been offered before, their property taxes will go up more.

Delta County voters also said “yes” to a renewal of the county’s landfill recycling and composting millage for the next ten years. That millage of 0-point-297 mills was approved 68-percent yes to 32-percent no (6,648-3,134).
Voter turnout in Delta County was around 32-percent.
