A 16-year-old charged in connection with the drowning death of Jakob Bowerman appeared Monday in Marinette County Court.
Peyton Carnot appeared by video from the Marinette County Jail for a status conference.
Carnot’s attorney told the court there have been what he called “substantial negotiations” with prosecutors but requested additional time to speak with Carnot before moving forward.
Judge James Morrison granted the request and scheduled another status conference for October 20th. Carnot and co-defendant Tyler Birch are accused of throwing 13-year-old Bowerman into the Menominee River in August of 2025, despite knowing Bowerman could not swim. Bowerman died three days later.
