On 08/25/2026 at approximately 11:20am the Marquette Police Department responded to an assault on the sidewalk in front of the Warming Center in the 400 block of W. Washington Street.
Investigation into the incident found that 47-year-old David Rodda Jr. committed an unprovoked assault of a 28-year-old subject who was on the sidewalk.
Following the assault, Rodda left the scene, but was located and arrested a short time later near S. Fourth Street and Washington Steet.
The victim was transported from the scene via ambulance to UPHS-Marquette for treatment of injuries and remains hospitalized.
Rodda was also the suspect in a larceny of an e-bike from the area of E. Ohio Street and N. Front Street which occurred a short time prior to the assault. The e-bike was recovered from Rodda’s possession. Located in the area of the e-bike larceny was another bicycle which was found to have been stolen from a separate nearby residence.
Rodda was lodged at the Marquette County Jail on the following charges authorized by the Marquette County Prosecutors Office:
- Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder (10-year felony)
- Criminal Sexual Conduct – 4th Degree (2-year felony)
- Ethnic Intimidation (2-year felony)
- Trespass (30-day misdemeanor)
- Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property $1000-$2,000 (5- year felony)
Rodda is also charged as a habitual offender.
