A seventeen-year-old charged in the drowning death of a Marinette boy is expected to enter a no-contest plea this week.
According to court records, Peyton Carnot has reached a plea agreement on a charge of second-degree reckless homicide in the death of thirteen-year-old Jakob Bowerman.
Under the agreement, prosecutors would recommend seven years in prison, followed by ten years of extended supervision.
The judge must still accept the plea and is not required to follow that sentencing recommendation. The charge carries a maximum penalty of twenty-five years in prison.
A status conference is scheduled for Tuesday.
Meanwhile, co-defendant Tylor Birch’s case remains pending after a competency issue was raised. His next status conference is scheduled for November.
