At 8:25 a.m. Friday, dispatch received a 911 call reporting a single person snowmobile accident.
A snowmobile was struck by a vehicle while crossing M-28 in the Wetmore area. The Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Alger County EMS and the Munising Twp. Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.
The evidence concluded that a snowmobile was crossing M-28 near Knox St. in Wetmore when it traveled into the oncoming path of an east bound vehicle. The operator of the snowmobile was immediately transported to U.P. Health Systems in Marquette where he had succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the vehicle that struck the snowmobile was not injured.
The scene investigation was conduct by the Alger County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Forest Service, Law Enforcement Officer.
The name of the victim is being withheld at this time.
