The suspect in the barricaded gunman situation has been identified after his arraignment in 94th District Court as; David Tebear, 54 year old male, who resided at 1531 Sheridan Road, apartment #10, Escanaba.
Mr. Tebear was arraigned on the following six felony counts related to this incident.
a. One count Malicious Damage of Property $1,000 to $20,000 – five year felony.
b. One count Assault with a Deadly Weapon – Four year felony
c. One count Felony Firearm – Two year felony [consecutive from other charges]
d. Two counts of Resisting and Obstructing Officers – Two year felony each count
e. One count Possession of weapon with unlawful intent – Four year felony
Mr. Tebear is currently lodged at the Delta County Jail on a 10% of $10,000 cash/surety bond for the Malicious Damage to Property charge and $100,000 cash/surety on the remaining assault and weapons charges.

On 03/26/2019 at approximately 10:50PM, Officers from Escanaba Department of Public Safety were investigating a report of damage to property at 1531 Sheridan Road when a 54 year old male suspect from Escanaba pointed a handgun at officers.
The male suspect retreated back into his apartment at 1531 Sheridan Road and barricaded himself within. Officers established a perimeter, evacuated other tenants within the building to safety, and closed down Sheridan Road to traffic.
The Michigan State Police Emergency Response Team was requested for assistance and activated. Once on scene, communication with the male suspect was established. The male suspect was apprehended, without, incident at approximately 5:40am on 03/27/2019 and is facing Felonious Assault and Felony Firearm charges.
Assisting with the incident was the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post and the MSP Emergency Response Team, Delta County Sheriff Department, Rampart EMS, Delta County Central Dispatch, and the Delta County Prosecutor’s office.
The identity of the suspect will not be released until he is formally arraigned in the 94th District Court on the felony charges.
Nothing further will be released at this time until the completion of the investigation.
