The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers baseball team held a special promotion over the weekend in an effort to expand its Upper Peninsula fan base. The team is an affiliate of the Miwaukee Brewers, playing its games in Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton.
And Saturday was Yooper Day, where people from the U-P could get a ticket and a specially-designed Yooper hat for $25.
Timber Rattlers President Rob Zerjav says it’s part of his team’s effort to reach out to the region’s fans, noting that Rattlers are geographically the closest professional baseball team to the U-P.
Free T-Shirts were given to the first 1,000 fans for the game, which the Burlington Bees won, 8-6.
