Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in National Mine ( County Road 1940 PBJ )Monday night at 19:01 04/29/2019. We were requested by automatic aid for Ishpeming Township FD.
When Firefighters arrived on scene, heavy smoke was showing from the second floor of the home. Firefighters made entrance to the structure with charged hose-line, mading their way to the second floor of the home. The fire was extinguished in 15 minutes of arrival. The roof was ventilated and Firefighters checked for fire extension. The home suffered heavy smoke & water damage.
The homeowner stated an electrical breaker tripped, he tried to reset the breaker a second time but it wouldn’t reset. A short time later he smelled smoke and found smoke coming from one the upstairs bedrooms and called 911.
Crews remained on scene for approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
Pigs & Heat along with the American Red Cross were contacted for the victims.
Ishpeming Township FD, Marquette County 131 rescue, Negaunee City FD & Ishpeming City FD on scene. SEMCO & UPPCO assisted on scene.
