The Marinette Recreation Department received two grants recently to support programming. The first, a $1,500 grant from Youth Advisory Committee Fund held at the M&M Area Community Foundation, is to support the #myREC Summer Day Camp program ran by the Marinette Recreation Department at the Community REC Center, 2501 Pierce Ave, Marinette Wisconsin.
In its first year, the #myREC Summer Camp program is serving over 50 children weekly. The grant is to purchase additional supplies for the campers and providing transportation to field trips. “The grant allows us to keep costs to parents and guardians low, while still providing a quality program,” said Adrienne Lacy, Assistant Director of the Marinette Recreation Department.
The second grant is a $500 grant from the Community Wide Fund held at the M&M Area Community Foundation. This grant will be used to offset the cost of the’ Dive In Movie’ held at the Civic Center Pool on August 23rd. “With this grant, we were able to pay the licensing fees for Aquaman and also purchase popcorn for attendees,” said Lacy.
Tickets for the ‘Dive In Movie’ can be purchased at the Community REC Center or online at marinette.recdesk.com. The family friendly event is to at dusk on the last day of the pool season, August 23rd at the Civic Center Pool, 1600 Alice Ln, Marinette Wisconsin. Tickets are limited.
