Supplemental Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) Phase 36 funds for local agencies is available in Marinette and Oconto Counties, WI and Menominee County, MI.
Marinette County, WI will receive $7,595; Oconto County, WI will receive $5,589; and Menominee County, MI will receive $3,685 in federal funds to supplement food, and emergency shelter programs. The National Board determines the amount to be allocated to counties and the local boards distributes these funds. A number of conditions must be met to be eligible for receiving funding under this program. These funds are not allocated to individuals but to non-profit organizations. The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) was created in 1983 to help meet the needs of hungry and homeless people throughout the United States and its territories by allocating federal funds for the provision of food and shelter. The EFSP funding is open to all organizations helping hungry and homeless people. EFSP funds must be used to supplement feeding, sheltering (including transitional sheltering), rent/mortgage, and utility assistance efforts only.
Since 1983, the EFSP will have distributed $4.4 billion to over 14,000 human service agencies in more than 2,500 communities across the country. Any organization interested in learning more should attend one of the three meetings on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Tri-City Area United Way, located at 1812 Hall Ave., Marinette, WI. Menominee County will meet at 9:00am. Marinette County will meet at 10:00am. Oconto County will meet at 11:00am.
