On December 10, 2018, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, MI deputies received a report of a Sexual Assault complaint that occurred in Ford River Township. The two female victims reported that they were with friends, including Lafreniere when he began to make sexually explicit comments to the victims. Lafreniere then exposed himself to the victims. Lafreniere grabbed the breast of one of the victims. At that time, the victims began to leave the residence and Lafreniere followed the women to their vehicle. Lafreniere went into the vehicle and crawled on top of a victim and started to sexually assault the victim. As he was doing so, Lafreniere told the victim “I don’t take no for an answer.”
At the time of sentencing, Judge Economopoulos emphasized that the two victims went through a “theater of horror.” Judge Economopoulos sentenced Lafreniere to the maximum sentence allowed by the Michigan Sentencing Guidelines.
