Run with our Michigan Law Enforcement Officers to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Michigan athletes during Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Run Week presented by Subway from September 7-27.
More than 40 community runs are taking place throughout Michigan during LETR Run Week. Participants will get the opportunity to run side-by-side with their local law enforcement and corrections personnel while raising awareness and money for Special Olympics Michigan athletes. Registration is $25 and includes a LETR Run Week shirt.
A complete list of dates and locations can be found below. To register at a community near you or find out more information, visit www.somi.org/runweek.
During Run Week, additional LETR members will be running a nonstop 750-mile relay that starts in Copper Harbor in the tip of the Upper Peninsula and ends downstate in Belle Isle.
This is known as the Central Route run and starts early on Monday, September 9 and ends on Friday, September 13. This relay is composed of three teams; Michigan State Police, Fraternal Order of Police and Michigan Department of Corrections. Each team has at least six runners who each run a five mile leg. Each team runs 30 miles at a time.
These runners have been raising money all year so they can participate in the event. LETR has more than 85,000 law enforcement officers involved worldwide and has raised more than $300 million dollars in the 39 years that it has supported Special Olympics.
Donations made at local Subway® restaurants from September 5 through September 30 will help provide funding to promote active lifestyles for nearly 23,000 Michigan athletes. More than 600 Subway restaurants will be participating in this statewide campaign.
Each year Subway® supports charities and philanthropic organizations through corporate donations and sponsorships to encourage active lifestyles and help make the world a better place. The Subway® system is committed to providing a wide range of great-tasting food choices while reducing their environmental footprint and creating a positive influence in the communities they serve around the world.
