The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported Saturday afternoon that the state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has jumped to 14,225, which is some 1,481 more cases in the past 24 hours.
There have now been 540 deaths reported in Michigan due to the virus, including three in the Upper Peninsula: in Marquette, Dickinson and Gogebic Counties.
That’s 61 more deaths in the past 24 hours.
There are 26 reported cases in the Upper Peninsula: eleven in Marquette County, five in Delta County, three in Gogebic County, two each in Houghton and Mackinac Counties, and one each in Dickinson, Luce, and Chippewa Counties.
Marquette County reported the most new cases for the U.P. on Saturday, with four more, and the county’s first death. There are no cases in the other eight Upper Peninsula counties.
