Michigan added its one fewest number of new coronavirus deaths in more than a month on Sunday, and the City of Detroit reported no new deaths, under data reported by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
State officials reported on Sunday afternoon that the state’s total number of deaths increased by 29, bringing the state’s total death count to 4,049.
After the state report came out, the City of Detroit said that there were three new deaths on Sunday.
Michigan’s confirmed coronavirus cases has increased to 43,754, which is 547 new positive cases in the past 24 hours. That’s also one of the smallest daily increases, although Sundays typically have smaller increases with not as many tests being reported to the state databank.
State officials say that 15,659 people have recovered from the virus. These are people who had the virus and have survived at least 30 days. That statistic is reported once a week, on Saturdays, by MDHHS.
Dickinson County added a new case on Sunday, while Marquette County had one taken away.
But the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department says they don’t have a new case.
“Wewould like to inform the public that the latest positive COVID-19 for Dickinson County was reported in error by MDHHS. As previously reported, Dickinson County only has 3 positives and 2 deaths related to COVID-19.”
There are 91 reported COVID-19 cases in the Upper Peninsula: 50 in Marquette County, 13 in Delta County, six in Mackinac County, five in Menominee County, four in Gogebic County, four in Dickinson County, three in Schoolcraft County, and two each in Chippewa and Houghton Counties, and one case each in Baraga and Luce Counties.
The majority of Marquette County’s cases are tied to the Norlite Nursing Center.
There are 13 deaths reported in the Upper Peninsula. Eight in Marquette County, two each in Delta and Dickinson Counties, and one in Gogebic County.
There have been no cases reported in Alger, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties.
