Voters said “no” on Tuesday to school improvement proposals in the Carney-Nadeau and Menominee Public Schools.
In Carney, the proposal was for 2-point-5 mills over seven years. The money would have been used to replace the gym’s bleachers, replace windows throughout the building, and build a new outbuilding to house a physical fitness area and room for the robotics program. The vote on Tuesday was 325 “no” (60%) to 213 “yes” (40%).
In Menominee, the proposal was a $44 million dollar bonding plan over a 30-year period to pay for the building of a new elemetary school, as well as make capital improvements at the senior and junior high schools.
This poposal failed by a vote of 1,822 “no” (56%) to 1,460 “yes” (44%).
Much of Tuesday’s voting was done in advance, as ballots were mailed to people throughout both districts to cut down on in-person voting due to the coronavirus concerns.
