Upper Peninsula Nears 10,000 Diagnostic Tests

Testing for the coronavirus continues to ramp up in the Upper Peninsula.

According to the Michigan Department of Community Health, 11,000 diagnostic tests have been conducted, along with 5,000 serology tests. Those are commonly referred to as “antibody” tests, to see if someone has the antibodies that could indicate they’ve had the virus…and could possibly be immune from it.

So far, a total of 9,619 diagnostic tests have been done in the U.P., with Marquette County leading the way with more than 3,800. Delta County has done the second-most tests at 1,130.

As for the antibody tests, there have been 966 of those tests done, with more than half of the U.P. total being in Marquette County (554).

Altogether, there have been 10,585 tests completed in the U.P.

The positive rate remains low at around two percent.
