President Trump plans to visit the area on Thursday.
Trump will be at the Fincatieri Marinette Marine Shipyards, where he is expected to give a speech regarding the U.S. Navy contract recently awarded to Marinette to build a frigate and if the Navy approves, there could be another nine ships as part of an expanded version of the contract. In the event all ten ships are built, the project will create a thousand new jobs with millions of dollars to be invested in the company and community.
Many of the workers at Marinette Marine live in the Upper Penisnula.
It’s the second high-profile visit to the shipward in the last year, after Vice President Mike Pence visited Marinette Marine last November.
