The language in a recall petition against Escanaba City Councilman Ralph Blasier has been approved by the Delta County Election Commission.
The language for a recall petition was submitted by Escanaba resident Peter Gregorie.
The Delta County Election Commission, which is made up of the probate judge, county clerk, and county treasurer, voted 3-0 to approve the language.
The decision Monday means that Gregoire needs to collect 1,218 signatures within a 60-day window to get the matter on the November ballot. The signatures need to be submitted by July 28 for that to happen, otherwise, the recall election would be held next May.
Blasier has been under fire since remarks he made at the June 4th council meeting that violent protesters should be shot in the legs and left to crawl to the hospital. He has since apologized for the remark, calling it a joke.
