Michigan Adds 460 Cases On 27,000 Tests; U.P. Now At 186 Cases

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported on Friday afternoon that there were 460 new positive coronavirus cases in the state, and there were three new deaths.

The new positive tests come from a batch of more than 27,000 processed tests reported on Friday.

Michigan now has 65,135 confirmed positive cases and 5,969 COVID-19 deaths.

On Friday, there was one additional case reported in Marquette County, two new cases in Houghton County, three new cases in Menominee County, and one new case in Schoolcraft County.

There have been 186 confirmed positive cases and 18 deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula.

Michigan also tracks “probable” cases and deaths. Those are people who do not have a positive test result confirmed, but health officials believe their illnesses or deaths were related to COVID-19.

As of Thursday, the state lists an additional 7,003 cases and 246 deaths in the “probable” category.

There have also been ten “probable” cases listed in the Upper Peninsula.

The state now lists 51,099 people as having “recovered”. This means that they are still alive at least 30 days after having a positive test confirmed, or being diagnosed with COVID-19.

That number will be updated again on Saturday.

As of Friday, the state completed 1,294,326 tests, including 168,588 tests for antibodies and 1,125,738 diagnostic tests.
