The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported Wednesday afternoon 610 new coronavirus cases and ten new deaths.
The 610 positive tests came from 23,735 diagnostic tests results that came back on Wednesday. That is a positive rate of 2.57%.
Separately, there were also 1,445 antibody tests that came back on Wednesday.
Michigan now has 67,237 confirmed positive cases and 6,015 COVID-19 deaths.
There were eight new cases reported Wednesday in the Upper Peninsula, with four of them in Menominee County. There was one case each reported in Dickinson, Houghton, Marquette, and Schoolcraft Counties.
There have now been 227 confirmed positive cases and 18 deaths linked to COVID-19 in the Upper Peninsula in the three-and-a-half months of this pandemic.
Michigan also tracks “probable” cases and deaths. Those are people who do not have a positive test result confirmed, but health officials believe their illnesses or deaths were related to COVID-19.
As of Wednesday, the state lists an additional 7,314 cases and 247 deaths in the “probable” category.
The state now lists 52,891 people as having “recovered”. This means that they are still alive at least 30 days after having a positive test confirmed, or being diagnosed with COVID-19.
There have also been ten “probable” cases listed in the Upper Peninsula.
As of Wednesday, the state completed 1,392,893 tests, including 174,840 tests for antibodies and 1,218,053 diagnostic tests.
