The Y received a $6,000 grant from the Impact Fund for COVID-19 Relief held at the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF).
The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation established this fund in March to help nonprofits whose resources have been strained by the coronavirus. The Foundation seeded the Impact Fund with $25,000. Additional donations were made to the fund by community members throughout Marinette and Menominee Counties.
The Y would like to thank the MMACF, it’s board of directors & the generous donors that supported this fund to provide assistance to local non-profits. The Y will use this grant to cover some of the costs of pivoting The Y kids program this summer to safely serve & positively impact families of our communities.
Youth Development is a huge portion of what the Y does & we want to ensure we can continue to deliver on the promise of The Y’s long-term vision & Commitment to America: developing new generations of change makers who will create communities we all want to live in.
The funds will be utilized to cover the cost of two outdoor tents, two basketball posts, supplies to provide different & creative ways to program with more physical distancing & smaller group sizes. In order to keep children in small groups that has increased staff cost to run the program & this grant will help close the gap on increased staff expenses.
YMCA’s have been the front porch of many communities across the nation, our local Y will be celebrating 50 years of serving communities this fall. We look forward to serving our communities in Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility today, tomorrow & into the future.
