The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 664 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, and two new deaths.
State officials also went back through death certificates and matched them to older positive test results. They added five more deaths to the total. Those people could have died days or weeks ago, according to MDHHS.
Michigan now has 84,050 positive test results since the crisis began more than four months ago, and 6,219 total deaths.
The 664 positive tests added Tuesday come from more than 27,000 total diagnostic test results that were reported by the state.
The Upper Peninsula’s positive rate from the more than 39,000 diagnostic tests done here is less than one percent.
The Upper Peninsula had 23 more cases reported on Tuesday, with seven of them coming in Menominee County.
Gogebic County added six more cases, and there were five new cases reported in Marquette County.
Mackinac and Ontonagon Counties each added two new positive test results, and Delta County added one case.
No new deaths were reported in the Upper Peninsula on Tuesday.
The U.P. has seen 578 total confirmed cases since early March.
Statewide, there have been 9,125 “probable” cases, and 252 deaths are listed as probable. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.
The state reports 71 “probable” cases for the Upper Peninsula, as of Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, Michigan has completed 2,200,056 tests. Of those, 1,979,257 tests are diagnostic tests, and 220,799 tests were for antibodies.
The MDHHS on Saturday provided an update on the number of people who have recovered after testing positive or being diagnosed with COVID-19. State officials now say that 60,022 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset.
