Schoolcraft County had a number of local issues on the Tuesday primary ballot.
Many were uncontested, but there were some contested race.
There were two county-wide ballot proposals. One was for county library services, and it passed, 1,157 yes to 638 no. The county’s millage for veteran service and relief fund also passed, 1,480 yes, to 329 no.
The Big Bay deNoc Scho0l’s sinking fund millage proposal failed on the Schoolcraft County side, 132 no to 97 yes. It passed on the Delta County side, 234-220, but the district-wide proposal failed, 352-331.
For a seat on the Schoolcraft County Road Commission, Democrat Randy Lund defeated fellow Democrat Thomas Klarich, 742-630. On the Republican side, William Poniatoski defeated Isaac Swisher, 580-478.
In District One for the Scho0olcraft County Board, also on Democratic side, Alan Kilar defeated Craig Reiter, 117-48.
Schoolcraft County’s choice for the 109th state house seat Republican nomination was Melody Wagner over Matthew Goss, 461-358. Wagner won a tight race across the entire district by just 274 votes (103 of that margin in Schoolcraft County) and Wagner will face Democratic incumbent Sara Cambensy in November.
