The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 517 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, and nine new deaths.
Michigan now has 89,271 positive test results since the crisis began five months ago, and 6,273 total deaths.
Wednesday’s 517 positive tests came from more than 36,000 diagnostic test results added to the state total.
The Upper Peninsula saw 13 new cases on Wednesday. Five of them were in Delta County and four positive tests were reported in Alger County.
Chippewa, Menominee, Luce and Gogebic Counties all added single cases.
The Upper Peninsula has had a total of 712 positive tests since the crisis began in March.
No new deaths were reported in the Upper Peninsula on Wednesday.
The last death reported in the U.P. was on June 26 in Iron County. Before that, the most recent death was on May 24, in Marquette County.
The state reports 94 “probable” cases for the Upper Peninsula, as of Wednesday.
Statewide as of Wednesday, there have been 9,418 “probable” cases, and 266 deaths are listed as probable. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.
As of Wednesday, Michigan has completed 2,440,044 tests. Of those, 2,208,812 tests are diagnostic tests, and 231,232 tests were for antibodies.
The MDHHS has reported steady increases in the number of people who have recovered after testing positive or being diagnosed with COVID-19. State officials now say that 63,636 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset. That’s an additional 3.614 recoveries in the past week. This number is updated every Saturday.
