The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,015 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, and four new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 14 more deaths to the state total. Those people could have died days or weeks ago.
The MDHHS checks through death certificates three times a week to match positive test results.
Michigan now has 92,155 positive test results since the crisis began five months ago, and 6,318 total deaths.
The MDHHS saya that 67,778 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset. That’s an additional 4,142 recoveries in the past week.

The Upper Peninsula added 23 new cases on Saturday. Ten of those were reported in Marquette County and nine were reported in Menominee County. There were two new positive test results in Ontonagon County, and single cases were added in Iron and Gogebic Counties.
The U.P. has a total of 784 confirmed positive test results since the first case was reported back in March.
No new deaths were reported in the Upper Peninsula on Saturday.
The last death reported in the U.P. was on June 26 in Iron County. Before that, the most recent death was on May 24, in Marquette County.
Statewide as of Saturday, there have been 9,627 “probable” cases, and 268 deaths are listed as probable. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.
The state reports 101 “probable” cases for the Upper Peninsula, as of Saturday.
As of Saturday, Michigan has completed 2,556,880 tests. Of those, 2,319,517 tests are diagnostic tests, and 237,323 tests were for antibodies.
