The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 768 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, and four new deaths.
The state was continuing to play “catch-up” after many test results were not entered on either Thursday or Friday.
Michigan now has 96,792 positive test results since the crisis began five months ago, and 6,393 total deaths.
The Upper Peninsula added eight new cases on Sunday. Three of the cases were in Delta County and two in Gogebic County. Single positive tests were added in Marquette, Chippewa, and Houghton Counties.
The U.P. now has seen 896 total cases since the crisis began five months ago, and 18 deaths. No new deaths were reported in the U.P. on Sunday.
The last death reported in the U.P. was on June 26 in Iron County. Before that, the most recent death was on May 24, in Marquette County.
The state also reported nearly 5,000 more recoveries on Saturday. The MDHHS says that 72,580 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset. That’s an additional 4,802 recoveries in the past week. This is updated every Saturday.
Statewide as of Sunday, there have been 10,016 “probable” cases, and 266 deaths are listed as probable. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.
The Upper Peninsula has had 137 “probable” cases reported.
As of Sunrday, Michigan has completed 2,812,278 tests. Of those, 2,564,334 tests are diagnostic tests, and 247,944 tests were for antibodies.
