Faithorn Township received a $2,982.00 grant from the Community-Wide Endowment held at the M&M Area Community Foundation.
Faithorn Township will use this grant to support to establish an Emergency Refuge. The funds will be used to add a backup power generator so the Faithorn Township Hall can be used as an emergency shelter to provide heat, water, lights, restroom and cooking facilities as needed during community wide emergency situations due to weather, fire or other extenuating situations.
“Last Thanksgiving we had power outages that lasted several days for many of our residents” said Bill DeVoe, Fire Chief, “and this facility would have been very beneficial to the members or our community.”
Thanks to the M&M Area Community Foundation residents of Faithorn Township will now have a place to shelter when we have a similar situation. The Township Hall will be available to all residents as needed.
The M&M Area Community Foundation encourages broad community participation in its mission and welcomes new donors. Since its founding in 1994 the
Community Foundation has tackled some of Marinette and Menominee Counties’ toughest challenges in education, healthcare, poverty, public safety and human services.
