Michigan Adds 758 Positive Tests; U.P. Has 13 COVID Patients

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 758 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, and one new death.

State officials went through death certificates and matched them with previous positive test results. They added 15 more deaths to the state’s total.

Michigan now has 99,958 positive test results since the crisis began five months ago, and 6,440 total deaths.

The Upper Peninsula added ten new cases on Thursday. There were two each in Delta and Iron Counties. Single cases were added in Dickinson, Houghton, Chippewa, Mackinac, Marquette and Menominee Counties.

The U.P. now has seen 932 total cases since the crisis began five months ago, and 18 deaths.

No new deaths were reported in the U.P. on Thursday.

The last death reported in the U.P. was on June 26 in Iron County. Before that, the most recent death was on May 24, in Marquette County.

Statewide as of Thursday, there have been 10,385 “probable” cases, and 266 deaths are listed as probable. This is where COVID-19 is suspected, but there is no positive test result to confirm it.

The Upper Peninsula’s ten hospitals have a combined nine COVID patients, plus four in intensive care units.

The Upper Peninsula has had 140 “probable” cases reported as of Thursday.

As of Thursday, Michigan has completed 2,933,887 tests. Of those, 2,681,786 tests are diagnostic tests, and 252,101 tests were for antibodies.

The MDHHS says that 72,580 people have recovered, which means they are still alive at least 30 days after diagnosis or onset. This is updated every Saturday.
